Greetings Chestertonians!
I hope this finds you enjoying a restful summer! Hopefully you have time in your (more relaxed) schedule for an evening of conversation and conviviality.
As usual, we’ll be meeting on the second Monday of the month, 7 PM, at the Country Gourmet in Sunnyvale. We are currently working our way through “In Defense of Sanity,” which is a fairly recent anthology of essays spanning most of Chesterton’s writing career. The July readings will be Chapter 11. The Shop of Ghosts (Tremendous Trifles, 1909) and Chapter 12. The Romantic in the Rain (A Miscellany of Men, 1912) While these are all available in a variety of free formats online, and people are welcome to use them, the physical book does present the advantage of everyone literally being “on the same page” when someone wants to discuss a particular passage.
Please drop a quick line here or back to the list if you plan to be at The County Gourmet Monday night at 7. The address is 1314 S Mary Ave, Sunnyvale, CA 94087, at the corner of Fremont and Mary.
